Mid-January 2024 marked the launch of a very special time in the Australian culinary landscape – the announcement of this year's Chef Hat recipients, ranging from 12 to 19 Hats. The modern-day Chef is creative, flexible, innovative and respective of flavours, balance, seasonality and nuances in palettes and aesthetics.
The amount of passion, dedication, time, attention to detail and meticulous dedication day after day is what sets a great Chef apart. This raises the question, is a Chef born or made?
We like to think it’s a bit of both and certainly in Australia with possibilities and options for career growth, apprenticeships, mentorships, dedicated programs and a myriad of restaurants to experience and try throughout the country from small regional towns, coastal areas, inland and great cities we are truly a country that supports and loves its hospitality industry.

2. Cook and capture your mini Chef’s creation in the kitchen.
3. Share the picture on Instagram by tagging @ausgoodfood and @opinelapac so we are sure to see it.
