Greek-inspired food and delicious cocktails have Melburnians returning for fun and frivolity at new restaurant on the Northcote block, Dante on High Street. Pull up a suede stool at the bar and contemplate a cheeky Honey Ginger on Fire cocktail or settle into a cosy table setting with friends for an after-work catch-up and memorable meal. Grilled corn ribs, paprika, mayonnaise and lime entice to start, or Mediterranean octopus, with olive oil, vinegar, red onion, capsicum, chilli flakes and oregano; before a main such as King prawns saganaki, cooked in Napoli sauce, with feta and sourdough bread. Slow-cooked lamb shank, red wine sauce, Greek yoghurt and ancient grains tempt, with sides of sautéed vegetables and chips; finish with lemon curd in a kataifi nest, Swiss meringue and berries.

Beautiful food and fantastic service. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and attentive, and we felt welcome from the moment we stepped in. The food was outstanding. It's so refreshing to find a classy Greek restaurant with terrific dishes and desserts; most importantly, everything is homemade.
