We arrived eight minutes late to check in after noting on the website that we would be able to for a $25 fee. However, when we arrived to check-in the after-hours phone continuously rang out. We tried phoning the line for three hours in between scouting the area for another bed. 1.30am, still no answer. Every other hotel in Lismore was booked so we ended up having to sleep in our 3 door rental car. The next morning the receptionist was very apologetic and explained that the manger was away and that was why the after-hour line was unanswered. She gave us our room and told us the manager would phone us as soon as she came in. She didn’t. That afternoon we went to speak to the manager to find out what happened. We were both stunned by her reaction. She was rude, argumentative, aggressive and clearly didn’t care that we had been forced to sleep in our car because she was unable to find anyone to answer her out-of-hour/security line. She told us in no uncertain terms it was our fault for arriving late (even though it was clearly stated that late check-in was available for a fee, which we were prepared to pay). She refused to give us our money back for the night and instead offered us a free meal!! By far, the worst service we have EVER received. They don’t quite understand what the word “hospitality” means in “hospitality industry”. Poor, poor form.
