Stayed at the Huon lodge mid-Spring arriving to a perfectly balanced view of the lake, jetty and bushlands directly from our residence. Furthermore, in the evening, we were greeted by friendly resident kangaroos which my partner was very content in feeding. The feeds are provided by the site and the staff are happy to refill if you want to feed them more on subsequent days. The bedding, bathroom, utensils were all impeccable and certainly cannot be faulted. The kitchen was well equipped enough for our meals of sashimi, steak, nachos with fried mince meat, omelette, and stir fry vegetables as well as a barbecue which we did not utilise during our stay. I would agree to say that the lodges may be on the warmer side in the summer season but it was fine even with a peak temperature of 28 during our stay. Facilities include an indoor heated pool which we were fortunate to have all to ourselves on our visit, a spa (which we did not have the opportunity to use; requires booking a time with reception), tennis court (racquets and balls included but bounce can be a bit random due to the fine layer of gravel), bicycles (no gears, coaster brakes but a nice easy 30-minute round-trip ride if you continue along Wattle Point Rd and you'll arrive at a very serene scene) and canoes if you fancy a paddle in the lake (life jackets at reception). At the end of the day, you can sit back and enjoy the DVDs (~4-5 shelves' worth) available for free from reception. It's approximately a three and a half hour drive east of Melbourne on good roads. Certainly make sure you bring enough food to cook/eat as others have mentioned previously due to its location. A highly recommended getaway from the bustle of metropolitan lifestyle!
