About Cataract Gorge
A 15 minute walk from the city centre, Cataract Gorge is one of Launceston's premier tourist destinations. Take a trip on the world's longest single span chairlift before taking to one of the walking and hiking trails. A pathway on the north side of the gorge leads to Cataract Cliff Grounds where there are gardens and a tea house. The gracious Victorian style Gardens surrounding the Gorge make for an ideal family picnic, where the local wildlife are seen making themselves at home.
