About Memorial Arch
Constructed as a war memorial for soldiers who lost their lives in World War One, The Great Ocean Road is lined with monuments, one particular area being the Memorial Arch of Eastern View. Constructed in 1939 and weighing 50 tonne, the original Memorial Arch has been rebuilt three times, keeping the original sign hanging throughout its replacement. Providing a photographic opportunity for travellers heading towards Lorne, the Memorial Arch is one of the Great Ocean Road's most memorable monuments.
