About Mount Stromlo Observatory
Mount Stromlo Observatory, located approximately 18 km southwest of Canberra, is the headquarters of the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics. After a devastating fire in 2003 destroyed workshops, homes, and the heritage listed administration building of the original observatory, the current Mount Stromlo Observatory is in the process of its redevelopment. Take to the observatory by foot and see the many domes, telescopes and refractors that all contribute to our knowledge of the skies.
