About The Tree Of Knowledge
The Tree of Knowledge takes its place in Australian history by being the central meeting place during the Great Shearers Strike of 1891. As a result of the strike came the birth of the Australian Labor Party. The eucalyptus papuana tree was originally situated in the front of the railway station, situated in the centre of Barcaldine in Queensland's central west but in 2006 was poisoned and did not recover. It's site remains an important place of Australia's history, National Heritage listed in 2006.
