About West MacDonnell National Park
Home to Simpsons Gap, Standley Chasm, Ellery Creek Big Hole and Ormiston Gorge, the West MacDonnell National Park, located west of Alice Springs, encloses a vast section of the MacDonnell Ranges. Each of the West MacDonnell’s chasms and gorges has its own unique character and scenery. Bushwalking takes you where no roads can go and provides views that few travellers see. The 223 kilometre Larapinta Trail in the West MacDonnell National Park is the showpiece of Central Australian bushwalking.
