Anna Gare

Baking up a storm of sweets since she could reach the benchtop, Anna Gare has gone from junior foodie to Junior MasterChef judge, making her mark across the country as one of the most popular chefs on Australian television – with the Logie nomination to prove it.

With her life revolving around music and food, the Perth born cook began profiting from her culinary abilities while she was still at school, selling three course meals for $1 to staff and fellow students.

Anna spent the 80s and 90s working in different Australian restaurants whilst continuing her musical talent as member of internationally renowned girl band, the Jam Tarts, along with her sister Sophie.  For 10 years, the Jam Tarts toured and recorded around the country, performing at internationally acclaimed music and arts festivals like the 1987 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Anna’s big break in the hospitality industry came about in the late 90s with the opening of her own catering company, Deluxe Catering.  With Anna cooking a range of corporate, cocktail and creative dishes, Deluxe Catering grew to be a huge success and Anna became one of Perth’s most sought-after caterers.

Taking to the screen, Anna began working on the ABC cooking series Consuming Passions as assistant to British chef Ian Parmenter.  Flourishing in the appeal of television, Anna moved on to team up with Darren Simpson and Ben O’ Donaghue for The Best in Australia before shooting her own series, Quickies in the Kitchen. Her recent role as judge on Junior MasterChef has made her a household name amongst Australian children and parents alike, renowned for her supportive charm and sweetheart persona.

Her first publication Homemade: Simply Delicious Food was released in 2011, jam-packed with simple and wholesome family friendly dishes, lunches and feast-worthy foods.  To continue her culinary success, Anna is currently working on her second publication to be released in early 2013.
