BBQ Lamb and Maple Burgers - Recipe by Maple from Canada



Ingredients

Burgers:

500 g lamb mince
1 diced onion
1 garlic clove
2 Tbs + 1 tsp pure maple syrup (preferably dark syrup for its robust taste)
2 Tbs + 1 tsp whisky
1 egg
Salt and pepper

Maple BBQ sauce:

1 can tomato sauce
1 1/2 Tbs + 3 tsp tomato paste
1 1/2 Tbs + 3 sp pure maple syrup (preferably dark syrup for its robust taste)
1 1/2 Tbs + 3 tsp Worcestershire sauce
3 tsp garlic powder
3 tsp paprika
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 pinch cayenne pepper

To serve:

5 brioche buns
1 sliced red onion
1 sliced tomato
Lettuce broken into leaves

Method

Maple BBQ sauce:

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a simmer over a medium heat.

Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes?until thick and glossy,?then transfer to a jar and store in the refrigerator.

Burgers:

To make the burgers, add?all?the?ingredients?in a bowl?and mix well?by hand.

Shape the mixture into?5?even patties and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Cook the patties on pre-heated BBQ for around 2–3 minutes per side.
