About 8Things
Taste street food from around the world at 8Things restaurant in Katoomba. This light, bright and airy venue on Katoomba Street embraces a monochromatic theme with ferns and fresh flowers adding a splash of nature and a calming vibe. Choose from a menu based on Chef Misha Laurent’s global travels and passion for hawker-style fare with Asian, North American and North African influences in dishes such as slow-cooked lamb shoulder Mexican tacos with refried beans, red cabbage, corn tortillas, lime, minted yoghurt and hot sauce. Send the senses into overload with Katoomba fried chicken with cabbage slaw, secret sauce, allspice dust and lime, or wrap your mouth around a NYC cheeseburger with beef patty, smoked cheddar, gherkins, special sauce and ketchup, on a milk bun with fries on the side.
A few words from 8Things
8Things Katoomba - Eat in or take-away "street" food prepared daily - by international chef Misha Laurent. With a passion for food and travel, and a family background in hospitality, french-born Misha has over 20 years experience in the food industry.
Whilst growing up in Paris he was exposed to North African/ Mediterranean culture and cuisine, which later became his passion and is reflected in his style of cooking today. His formal hospitality training began at the Sheraton Hotel in Munich, where he graduated in Hotel Management. With a desire to cook & travel, he was able to work in Europe, S-E Asia, and North America, during which time he developed a taste for quality Street food.
After working as head chef for two prominent Blue Mountains restaurants Misha decided to make the area home and has since focused on offering a variety of quality foods that had not previously been locally available."We should not have to travel to Sydney or abroad to get these dishes."Along with his love of food Misha has a true love of urban music, particularly funk and hip hop. He felt Katoomba had an urban vibe about it and was the perfect location for a street food venue where he could serve the food he loves while playing the tunes that move him.

Exceptional Food
Fresh food beautifully prepared, incredible flavours. Our family of 4 tried 4 out of the 8 things and loved every one. By keeping the menu simple and fresh, 8 things can focus on putting all it's focus on creating a beautiful menu. The food is delightfully presented and prepared with love. Clearly in a class above most and what is so admirable is that the chef has chosen to make this offering available to the everyday person. Prices are kept reasonable in a casual environment so the person off the street can enjoy it. Thank you for a great experience the whole family loved. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Katoomba!
