About Atom Thai Restaurant
Discerning Newtown foodies know where to find the best Thai meals in town at well-loved local dining destination Atom Thai on King Street. For more than a decade, this restaurant has been serving not just authentic Thai food but a truly unique dining experience in monochromatic surrounds of black and white floor tiles and wall art, while potted greenery adds a softening touch. Bifold doors open onto the street for people watching as you peruse an extensive menu serving up starters like salt and pepper squid with spicy nam jim sauce, or Thai fish cakes; before Chef’s special barramundi green curry and rice. Perhaps classic green curry chicken or massaman beef with potato, coconut milk and kaffir lime leaves entice, while seafood lovers opt for garlic and pepper prawns.

A quiet yet romantic late lunch feast
Right in the middle of Newtown’s Uber-bustling King Street is the superbly decorated Atom Thai restaurant. Even though facing plenty of competition on one of Sydney’s most multi-cultural culinary experience, the Atom Thai offer exquisite dishes on the higher end of a typical Newtown restaurant. Yet, Atom Thai’s exquisite cuisine are worth every penny. We started with salt and pepper squid. This was followed by two rather standard dishes namely, Chicken pad siew and Massaman beef. Selecting these two rather traditional Thai offering increases comparability. And boy! The Atom Thai compares extremely well. The two main courses came with our favourite: “Endless Jasmine Rice (refillable)”. All in all, we had a most outstanding late lunch at the Atom Thai. In our three categories of “never again”, “was okay”, and “let’s go again”, the Atom Thai definitely falls into the category of “let’s go again”. Well done Atom Thai.
