Embrace the golden hours of the early evening and everything that lies beyond at Bar Ombre Rooftop on Alfred Street in the Sydney CBD. This inner-city haven boasts afternoon aperitivo, light fare and eclectic entertainment in an intimate sunset experience gazing out across the city skyline – dance with the resident DJ, boogie by the bar or find a corner with someone special for an evening to remember. Sip a signature Purple Haze cocktail with ink gin, pink grapefruit, lemon and orange bitters and graze on fried salted cod bites and tartar sauce; perhaps opt for pappardelle with slow-cooked lamb ragu, pecorino and romano, or chicken cotoletta, coleslaw and Dijonnaise. Those with a bent for pizza chow down on tomato, smoked ham, hot sopressa, pancetta, sausage, fior di latte and BBQ sauce.

Brunch @ the rooftop
Even though located right at Sydney’s Circular Quay, it proved to be a bit tricky to find the Bar Ombré Rooftop. But once we got up the stairs (there is a lift as well), the roomy courtyard offers a pleasant outdoor setting with view of the Opera house, Sydney Harbour bridge and circular Quay. This is a bar that turns into a little hidden gem. We had the Ombré Spritz and the Limenta. Both are refreshingly tasteful particularly on a hot summer’s day. For lunch, we enjoyed the rigatoni with pecorino as well as the margherita buffalo pizza. Both dishes were made to perfection. This is a trendy and cool place with lots of young people and brassy music. For a super-tasty Italian food with a view, this is the place to be at the Quay. Well done little, hard to find, Bar Ombré Rooftop.
