This place is a must to be visited when in Bondi. The food is out of control. I have eaten there twice and both times my tastebuds have been taken to new and exciting places. If you want to seriously explore and challenge all that food has to offer then this must be on your list. Must Be. If only Michelin gave stars to Australian restaurants, this would get 3+

Since trying the new menu at The Rum Diaries for the first time I haven’t been able to stop going back. The food is like nothing I’ve ever seen or tasted – it’s so light and fresh, and the combinations of textures and flavours are incredible. Each dish is presented so beautifully and thoughtfully, they’re like works of art. Having tried everything on the menu by now I’m not sure I could choose a favourite, but I’d highly recommend the slow roast lamb with tomato tart tatin on a cosy winter night. The scallops and the rum-smoked barramundi are also highlights, and you absolutely cannot skip dessert here. A Maria (rum-based margherita) is the perfect accompaniment! The atmosphere is relaxed and intimate, without pretension.

We visit family from overseas at least twice a year and Rum Diaries is on our 'must visit list'. The food is always excellent, and different from any other restaurant I have been to. We have been in a group which is great fun and means we get to try everything on the menu! - but it's also nice to sample the unusual dishes on our own in such a friendly atmosphere. Would be difficult to pick a favourite dish - they are all yummy. Can't wait for our next visit. If you haven't been yet - it's a must. Anne

By far the most amazing food in Bondi. No matter how long i leave between visits, i am never disappointed by the service or the food.
I can still taste the most amazing dessert, the passion fruit panna cotta. Very highly recommended.

Cheeky little rum diaries serves equal parts great food, service, atmosphere and of course rum cocktails. The crew at the Diaries are a fun bunch, up for a laugh and a speedy drink delivery. The tasty menu plays with traditional themes, resulting in food that's not only full of flavor, but interest. If you want a restaurant with a twist, coupled with fab friendly servers, you can't go past this Bondi institution

Fantastic. Second time dining at The Rum Diaries, this time with work colleagues from the city. The place ticks alot of boxes when it comes to restaurants: Good food, good value, decent atmosphere and great service.
Decor is definately interesting and with a good drop of character - seems like the place has evolved over time and the cosiness is genuine as the smiles on the staff's faces.
Cocktails were great, and the staff/service to match (attentive, knowledgeable and friendly).
What I thought was the best thing about this place is that it has the quality, innovation and atmosphere of most boutique restaurants.. without the attitude, and at reasonable prices - and heaps to do in bondi afterward.
There are not many restuarants in Sydney who manage to pull this gig off well. Will be recommending this place for sure.

As a bondi resident, I am spoilt for choice with the amount of restaurants in the area. But for me there is no better than The Rum Diaries. Every time I eat here, I am greeted by the friendly staff, and made to feel very welcome. The food is always top notch, and presented beautifully. The cocktails, and wine list are impeccable...everybody should come and try this place out, you will NOT be disappointed! Most definately the best restaurant by a long way!

I have eaten at the Rum Diaries quite a few times and it would probably be one of my favourite restaurants. On my mosy recent visit, I really enjoyed the new ambience and different menu. Each time I have been the staff have been eager to explain the menu and help with any questions. I look forward to going back soon!

I recently had dinner at the Rum Diaries with a close friend and we had an amazing night. The food was fantastic, amazing flavors and really creative menu. I especially liked the King fish ceviche and the Crispy Skin Pork Belly....mmmmm. The service was also great, very relaxed and attentive and there was a great band playing a nice acoustic set. I'm definitely going back again soon!

The new menu at The Rum Diaries is spectacular - in a sea of unoriginal menus in Bondi, this is an absolute standout.
It is nearly impossible to choose the best dish (I've tried everything on the menu!) but if I had to recommend a few go-to dishes, they would have to be the scallops, the kingfish cerviche, the rum-smoked barramundi and the pork belly (I have to add here that I'm not a big seafood eater but this place has won me over!) They are all designed to share - perfect to prevent food envy, which is guaranteed in this place!
The chef uses ingredients I have never tried before, like yuzu and tonka beans, which make the dishes so interesting and fresh, and the presentation of each dish is absolutely exquisite. I also love how the staff explain each dish as it's presented to you; they are clearly as excited and passionate about the food as the chef who created it.
On top of the incredible food, the staff are always so welcoming and attentive, the vibe of the restaurant is really low key and romantic and the cocktails are sensational (I recommend the Maria).
