About Carlton Wine Room
A few words from Carlton Wine Room
Aylesbury duck breast, cauliflower, Dutch carrots and plum jus.
A neighbourhood bistro and bar serving food that works with wine is what you will find at Carlton Wine Room on Faraday Street. Occupying a treasured corner in old Carlton, this venue has distinct dining spaces over three levels linked by a common offering of solid informed service and good times. Come in for honest, generous dishes, perfect for sharing or keeping all to yourself; think starters like duck and pork croquettes with prune vinegar, followed by kingfish rillettes, smoked roe, chives and rye. For the main, devour boneless ribeye, caramelised onion, lardons and mustard, with sides of fried potatoes, zucchini, sesame, pickled red onion and mint, or flathead, sweet prawns, cucumber, dill and a green salad. Finish sweetly with a decadent dessert of rum baba and crème diplomat.

A delightful evening
The Carlton Wine Room has a stunning atmosphere and incredibly knowledgable, friendly and helpful staff. The highlight dish of the evening was the steak (Beef of the day at MP) which was absolutely cooked to perfection and served with one of the most delicious jus' I have ever had. I would also highly recommend the steamed greens which are intriguingly flavoured with soy and lemon. My partner an I also enjoyed the wild mushroom and white polenta, which could have done with a little more seasoning as some of the polenta was quite plain, but still a lovely dish. We also ordered an array of cocktails including the French 75 which was delightful and we were pleasantly impressed with the extensive wine list. Overall it was a little bit pricey but well worth it for the fantastic service, atmosphere and food; we will definitely be returning.
