About Hasthi Sri Lankan Restaurant
Savour centuries of tradition and heritage at Newcastle’s first-ever Sri Lankan restaurant, Hasthi on Nelson Street in Wallsend. Named after the majestic Sri Lankan Tusker elephant – symbolising beauty and tradition – every dish at Hashti is inspired by these values; take a seat in elegant surroundings of twinkling fairy lights trailing greenery and colourful images of the homeland to explore a menu sure to tantalise taste buds. Begin with crispy chicken wings coated in housemade hot Kandy BBQ sauce, or twice-cooked pork belly and special BBQ sauce; before delving into succulent slow-cooked black pork curry with sides of steamed rice, raita and papadums. Perhaps seafood fried rice hits the mark, with calamari, salmon, basa, mussels, prawns, fried onion, curry leaves and scrambled egg.
