Every dish at Konak Turkish Kitchen on King Street in Newtown has its own story from traditional recipes to modern updates. Dine alfresco on blue and white banquettes under a vine-covered roof in the courtyard and soak up a slice of Turkey without leaving Sydney; while indoors tantalising aromas waft in the air from the wood-fired oven along with the lively buzz of chatter. Embark on your journey with char-grilled octopus, black eye beans, celery and herb puree, alongside an okra salad of tomato, grape, garden herbs and house dressing; before mesmerising mains of veal, potatoes and tomato sauce, on spiced and burnt butter pide bread and yoghurt. From the charcoal grill come marinated chicken wings, chilli pepper, tomatoes and mixed salad; don’t go past authentic baklava for a sweet finish.
