About Le Capucin

Say bonjour to the day with a latte and croissant at French café Le Capucin on Point Nepean Road in Portsea. This petit blue beauty sits proud across from the beach, making it an ideal spot to watch the sun rise with a coffee in hand, or drop by later and dine alfresco at café-style cane chairs and soak up the sun and sea air. Perhaps delve into a smoked salmon omelette, capers, spinach leaves and cherry tomatoes, or a ham and cheese croissant; while the lunch crowd opts for the housemade beef bourguignon pie and salad of the day. Burger lovers will be satisfied with Angus beef and frites, or housemade chicken schnitzel, tomato, onion, cheese, lettuce and mayo; don’t forget to grab a delicious muffin for a later sweet treat on the way out.

My idea of a perfect place for lunch
Today I went to Le Capucin for lunch with some friends. I had the Ocean pie, superb flavour, amazing pastry. Each friend had something different but we all felt it was special. And good coffee plus we felt cared for.

The last shop on the peninsula makes it a destination for many cyclists, walkers and drivers. But for locals it’s a destination because of the great coffee, magnificent French food, terrific staff and spectacular location for simply a sit and chat or for a walk on the beach, pier or cliff top. Thank you Loic&Kirsty

Superb food and service
Visiting Portsea from Sydney for a sailing regatta, I needed a meal for 7 to celebrate my husbands birthday- Loic was extremely accomodating providing the most delicious fresh cooked chicken tarragon - everyone used bread to capture the last taste of the fine meal! Thank you Loic!

Memorable food, great vibe and location!
I've had a number of great experiences at Le Capucin over breakfast, lunch and with their take home meals. The quality of the food is what keeps me going back there. I love their famous chicken baguette and pies. My kids would eat the take home sheppards pie every week if they could. The service is always outstanding and I can't wait to go back.

Absolutely delicious food and coffee, great atmosphere and beautiful take home meals
My absolute favourite Cafe, not just on the coast but anywhere. Seriously great coffee, beautiful food (Chicken Baguette OMG!) and delicious take home meals (Shepards Pie...). Awesome service, feels like a little family run place, and so nice just to hang outside on a warm day on the grass and have some lunch after a swim. This is the place to eat if you're down on the Peninsula.

My favourite!
Loïc and Kirsty have created a lovely cafe destination in Portsea; with beautiful French treats and pastries and great coffee. Their take home French meals are amazing too.
