About Little Kalymnos Taverna
Named for the mountainous Greek island, Little Kalymnos Taverna on Homer Street brings a slice of the Aegean to Earlwood. The island was once known for its lucrative sea sponge trade and the taverna’s décor is a nod to this history with sponges strewn in netting across the ceiling and a diver’s helmet on display, along with stunning wall imagery of the homeland. On Friday and Saturday nights, the taverna reverberates with live music and Greek dancing as guests tuck into starters of cabbage rolls stuffed with minced meat and rice, or zucchini fritters and yoghurt. Tender, succulent char-grilled meat such as lamb, pork and chicken demand attention enjoyed souvlaki-style, or devour slow-roasted lamb with lemon potatoes and wild greens. For a sweet finish, try galaktobouriko and ice cream.
