About Longwang
The Chinese Dragon King of the Sea has arrived in Brisbane in the form of new dining destination, Longwang on Edward Street. With roots in Chinese mythology, the name Longwang is a homage to the revered Dragon King – a fitting moniker for Queensland’s first Asian bar and restaurant by seafood virtuoso, Michael Tassis and celebrated Chef, Jason Margaritis. Custom-built over two storeys in what was a laneway between two buildings, Longwang boasts a private dining area, Chef’s Table and open-air bar with a curved frontage extending above the street. Expect to sample starters such as seared scallops, with strange flavour sauce, macadamia, sesame and crispy chilli; before mains like tea-smoked and fried duck with fragrant soy sauce, Sichuan pepper, Thai basil and a side of steamed jasmine rice.
A few words from Longwang
Longwang promises to deliver contemporary Asian gastronomy in a stylish urban setting, marking a culinary experience that Brisbane has been eagerly anticipating – where the bar and kitchen are celebrated in equal measure.
Celebrated menu items include local mud crabs and Tasmanian rock lobsters, plucked fresh from a live seafood tank and prepared in your choice of three style, plus a variety of wok-tossed fare including bug tail "kung pao" and whole fried baby barramundi with dry red curry snake beans. The menu also hosts an array of non-seafood stars including a Massaman curry made with braised lamb shoulder and a charcoal-grilled half chicken slathered in a sweet, sour tamarind driven satay sauce.
Alongside the exquisite selection of share plates is an impeccable wine list that balances new and old world wines with specific emphasis on varietals that complement the Asian cuisine. Adding to the experience, guests can enjoy cocktails tailored to their individual taste preferences upon request at either of the two bars – a special touch for those eager to break free from their comfort zones and embrace Longwang's unexpected demeanour.
Longwang is the perfect inner-city dining destination for after work drinks that turn into dinner, or a corporate lunch with a difference.
