About Pickled Evenings

Be transported to India without leaving Launceston at Pickled Evenings on George Street. This restaurant serves modern Punjabi cuisine in elegantly casual surrounds of polished wood floors, chandelier lighting and earthy tones reminiscent of Indian spices, creating a warm and vibrant ambience to linger over delicious fare. Embark on a taste adventure with starters such as chickpea fritters with mint sauce, or tender morsels of chicken tikka, marinated in Greek yoghurt and spices and finished in the tandoor. Salivate over curries such as Goan fish, with cubes of barramundi cooked in a smooth and flavourful coconut gravy, or perhaps pickled beef, braised in Tasmanian red wine and cooked with bell peppers. Cool things down with a sweet such as housemade mango kulfi ice cream with pistachios.

After hearing so many good things about the food, service and ambiance of this restaurant we went to dine in there on a friday night. As we didnt made the booking, there young staff was very curtious told us that they can provide us with a table upstairs but its noisy as there was a big group of around 25 people. We were really impressed that they have preinformed us but we told we dnt mind. We ordered our food and I have been to many Indian Restaurants in Melbourne and Sydney and I would say that it was the "Best Indian Food" we ever had. But a strange thing happened, the Big table which was sitting next to us went downstairs and starting shouting at the staff that they wudnt pay for the meal of those people who had already left, the staff was very patient and tried to explain that they all belong to the same table and when people come and do split bill they forget that what they had ordered but those people were really rude and ultimately the staff had to let them go. I would say just go to this restaurant once and try there food and warming service. You'll realize yourself how different this place this. I would give it a 5 STAR.. Thanks Suzanne and Michael

We dined on Friday witha party of 14. Service was average considering there were only 10 other diners.
The food was very tasty, The spices could be recognised. The sauces were a little too creamy (butter?).
The atmosphere was very good.
