This second version of the highly successful Pippin Took, which was located in Brisbane for 12 years, presents a slick, chic French ambience of black and white striped accents, fresh flowers and polished wooden floors; while on balmy Gold Coast days alfresco dining entices. Whether seeking an intimate dinner for two or a special family occasion, say bon appetit to starters of duck liver parfait, pear and cassis compote and croutons; before memorable mains such as eye fillet of beef with steak fries and red wine jus. For an indulgent dessert to finish, delve into toffee date pudding, caramel sauce and housemade vanilla bean ice cream.

Stunningly Good French Cuisine
This is the best French food we have ever had. In fact I think it’s the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. We have traveled throughout France, but we didn’t find food as good as this.
The chef is truly talented, which all of his awards attest to.
The service and location are both delightful.

Beautiful French cuisine
Off the busy main stream of Mount Tambourine. Beautiful French Cousine by award winning chef in a cosy small and intimate setting. I like to look for restaurants that are somewhat different… with a small menu sure to please most people, my partner and I decided on the double baked cheese soufflé, duck and cappuccino and pannacotta. . My partner even said it’s probably one of the best duck dishes he has ever had and he has been around the block in the culinary world… I also learned that the cooking Olympics are always held in my home country Germany as I was looking at the many medals won by the chef Ross. We loved our lunch there. Can’t fault it. Byo bonus. Prices are good for the quality of meals you get since it’s easy to pay $40 for a steak these days in a pub even… do yourself a favour and support this wonderful husband and wife team .

Birthday celebration
We had lunch here to celebrate my birthday and I'm so glad we did.The food is amazing.I had a cheese soufflé for an entree which I highly recommend and steak for the main. Steak-Beautiful. As soon as we arrived we were warmly welcomed .Great service.

From the welcome by Helen then the presentation of each dish by Ross we loved our night.
We shared the Twice baked Cheese Soufflé and wished we had ordered one each.The mains were delicious.
Then shared the Cappuccino panna cotta and it was so delicious

Rainforest French perfection!
What a fabulous experience! Hands down best food I've eaten in Brisbane, ever. My partner had twice baked cheese souffle, eye fillet, pear salad, toffee date with ice cream and coffee. I had cauliflower veloute, duck, vanilla baked custard and hot chocolate. I could not fault one thing - absolutely perfect portions, seasoning, presentation.

Go there - you won't regret it.

Also Helen is lovely and hilarious and she explained all the awards her husband and co owner has won over the years.

Definitely worth a dinner or two!

We were staying nearby and our host recommended Pippin Took for great hospitality and terrific French food. We were so pleased we went. We had a most delicious French dinner in a charming dining room. And it’s byo. It was a delightful evening. Many thanks Helen.

A divine French lunch at Pippin Took 2.
An absolutely amazing lunch. The meals were superb. The pate, salmon rillettes and cheese soufflé were divine. The mains of duck confit and beef cheeks sublime.
Haven’t had French food of such quality in a long time. Cannot find fault.
Worth a drive up the mountain to come to this wonderful restaurant.

Little Corner Of France On The Mountain
We had a fabulous meal here on a Friday night. Beautifully decorated in French style, the restaurant was cosy and chic. The host was a charming and friendly lady. One wall was decorated with many awards the chef had won over the years. We soon found out why he had so many awards - we had some of the best French food we’ve had.

My wife and daughter along with our dog took the trip from Redcliffe to Mt Tamborine to experience and icon of a place after it had moved a number of years ago from Brisbane. The food, service and atmosphere were simply outstanding, the chefs, Ross Howell, twice represented Australia in the Bocuse D'Or competition, competed at the Culinary Olympics and was 3rd in the world in the Global Chef, his skills as still top class with the quality and taste profiles of each dish on the plate. Service and attention to detail from Ms Helen Johnson was spot on with a few good laughs through the day. It is simple guys, if you haven't been, you have no idea what you are missing, make the trip up the hill, you wont regret it!

Main - Duck Confit, Paris mash and Pickled red cabbage
the duck was sourced from a Gatton farm where they are free to roam under lychee trees, a fascinating and sustainable approach to farming. The duck breast was tender and succulent, served with a silky-smooth buttery mash and wonderful rich jus.

Dessert - Cappuccino Panna Cotta
This dessert had a subtle coffee flavour, which was an enjoyable way to finish the meal. It was beautifully served in a sculptured glass cup and saucer! Members thought it enjoyable, smooth with good taste and more like a mousse with no wobble!

Entrée - Salmon Rillette, Salmon Pearls Cornichons and Croutons
The Rillette had a fine texture with the dill coming through to enhance the flavours. For an enhanced experience, dip the cornichons into the rillette for a flavour explosion in your mouth. We were impressed with the great presentation and generous supply of croutons.

What a wonderful meal! We shared an entree of duck pate which was so light and full of flavour. I had the duck for main which just fell away from the bone, the Paris mash was exquisite and the pickled red cabbage a perfect match. My husband enjoyed one of the best steaks he ever had. We finished of with an apple tart and a light chocolate mouse topped with a rose water Persian floss. Outstanding all round

My Partner and I went to Pippin Took recently for our Birthday lunch, and we wanted something special. From the moment we walked in we new we were in for a treat. The food was amazing, every mouthful was savoured. The ambience was relaxing and Helen was wonderful. We certainly have this Restaurant on our hit list now and can't wait to return. Thank you for a great dining experience.

My wife and I booked and went there for dinner last Friday night. The decor was a little quirky but fabulous. The French Provincial black resin chairs were really comfortable, although I was slightly apprehensive about them before I sat down. Obviously there were some regulars there but Helen made everyone else feel equally welcome too. The food and service was excellent and not at all pretensionious, unlike other French or French style restaurants in Brisbane. The servings ar typical of French cuisine and perfect for us. We will be back and wish it were a little closer to us. Finally, we could bring our own wine and corkage charge was very fair.

The food was fantastic! My husband has long since given up ordering steak when we're out for dinner but tonight he was blown away. My twice cook cheese souflee was to die for and the confit duck was amazing. This was our first visit, we will definitely be back. A special thanks to Helen for responding so quickly to emails and for your time, knowledge and humour when attending to us.

Delicious food and wonderful service
