About Proudfoots by the River
One of the most historic buildings in Warrnambool, Proudfoots by the River on Simpson Street is renowned for its unique dining experience. Nestled in a boathouse on the banks of the Hopkins River, Proudfoots is the city’s only on-the-water restaurant – take in picturesque views as you enjoy a meal in the friendly, relaxed ambience whether sipping a coffee or a local wine on the balcony. From a menu showcasing native ingredients, dive right in with deep-fried native spiced butter chicken wings, yoghurt and pickled celery; before mains like pork belly, roast pumpkin, pickled baby carrot and fennel salad, broccoli purée, raspberry and strawberry gum sauce. Perhaps confit duck, potato and anise myrtle gnocchi hits the mark, with peas, kale, yoghurt and macadamia pesto sauce, feta and saltbush.
