About The Box on the Water
Ettalong locals flock to The Box on the Water restaurant and lounge bar for absolute waterfront dining in contemporary style, found ocean-side of The Esplanade on the redeveloped foreshore. In all weather, soak up panoramic views across soft sand and sheltered bay waters, dining at a leisurely pace, seated underneath lush ferns hanging from the ceiling in black pots, while surrounded by a smart casual environment reflective of nature outside. Sip a craft beer or cocktail while enjoying crispy pork belly bites, salted dulce de leche and aji Amarillo; for a memorable main, delve into confit duck salad, roasted sweet potato, spinach, orange, maple pecans, goats’ cheese and bourbon dressing. Perhaps share a whole baby barramundi, with sautéed greens, steamed rice, ginger and soy dressing.

Architecturally designed with a stylish, modern aesthetic, The BOX on the Water restaurant, bar and beach kiosk is just an hour and a half's drive from central Sydney or twenty five minutes on the passenger ferry from Palm Beach.
Both the restaurant and kiosk offer fresh, modern Australian cuisine and friendly, efficient service.

Great venue: food and staff on point even when very busy. Took interstate visitors here. They loved the location, the food and friendly, professional staff.
What staff...and what a venue!
Our first time to this venue... not from the area either...
We went for our anniversary so it was a little special for us.
Booked online... zero issue.
We were greeted by smiling welcoming faces... seated at a table for two up the southern end... it was night time.... the venue has a view out over the water but the moored boats could be seen... stunning.
Our choice was the degustation for two... apparently its their new menu...
Had a couple of gins first... soaking it in... all relaxed... exactly as we hoped.. great atmosphere.
Wine came with the first course.a Syrah/Pinot Gris from Orange NSW... Chilled...perfect.
Every course was great.... but the brussel sprouts were the most amazing.... brussel sprouts!!!!
Most importantly... the service was so engaging.... attentive but not intrusive... and the cadence of the courses left just the right amount of time to chat...
It felt an extremely well delivered experience by every staff member.
We were actually blown away!!!
Most restaurants make you feel pretty transactional.... this was engaging.

It was a friday night for us... at 630pm... and it all worked.
We WILL be returning again.

I really enjoy visiting the Box for lunch - without doubt my favourite local eatery. Staff are always relaxed and fun while being knowledgeable and providing great service. The food is delicious; always fresh and beautifully presented. The view spectacular.
