I’d heard very mixed reviews about this place so decided to check it out for a mid week dinner with my hubby. It was a cold rainy night but was nice and warm as soon as we walked inside. The bar area was very busy and had a nice atmosphere to it. We were quickly shown to our reserved table in the lower dining area which to be honest was a bit cramped up against a brick wall, we asked to move but all the other tables were also booked. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with the menu, he helped us with our choice of wine and was happy to provide a couple of tastings which was helpful. After a bit of deliberation we ordered the lamb rump, pork tenderloin and the grilled cabbage with white wine cream, sausage, bacon and potatoes. All the dishes came out together with a selection of homemade sauces, really good portion sizes and nicely presented on planks. We were apprehensive in ordering the lamb as we like our meat cooked medium rare but more on the rare side, the waiter assured us that this is how it comes and he was right, it was perfectly cooked, nice and chargrilled on the outside and beautifully pink in the middle. The pork was also just pink enough to be juicy and tender and the grilled cabbage was awesome. All up we had a really nice meal and are looking forward to returning (although next time I will request a different table) Also looking forward to visiting in the warmer months when the upstairs bar is open.
