Best Known For

Well known for their handmade dumplings, with their signature sauce.

About The Flying Pigeon

For trendy Asian fusion dining in the burgeoning town of Gisborne, locals drop into The Flying Pigeon on Goode Street. Located in the Nexus Centre, this cool new venue delivers informal, relaxed dining amidst polished wood floors and furniture, an aqua wall mural of fish and softly glowing overhead lights. Chill out with a cocktail in hand while perusing a menu specialising in Sichuan style dishes and housemade dumplings; there’s chilli for the chilli lovers or subtle flavours for those desiring a milder experience. Perhaps begin with prawn dumplings in housemade Sichuan chilli oil and aged rice vinegar, before mains such as wok seared beef with Sichuan pepper, green peppercorns, black bean, red pepper and onions. Guests who can’t decide may opt for the three or four course tasting menu.

So delicious, quality bar, exceptional cuisine.
The best of curries for any palate, dumplings are delicious. Bar for all tastes, super cocktails and icy cold Asahi on tap. A hidden gem

we love this place, have been 3 times in two weeks, clean and very courteous staff, even turned down the music when we arrived, thank you.
My two elderly parents love the food and it's convenient to where they are.
