About The Hungry Monkey
A trip down the South East coast is worth the scenic drive if only to try out The Hungry Monkey on Collins Street in Kiama, not far from the iconic blowhole and lighthouse. The smell of freshly baked treats entices patrons inside a weatherboard building to share a table for coffee, seated by a comic strip-inspired mural, or on the verandah to soak up warm rays and a balmy, coastal breeze. Early risers can enjoy options like chilli scrambled eggs with fried shallots, smashed avo, fried garlic and coriander on sourdough; or stay around to join the lively lunch crowd and devour gourmet burgers like the Bad Boy with beef, battered onion rings, bacon, American cheese, chipotle aioli and mustard mayo, or Lady Ba Ba with pulled lamb, roasted onion, mint, olive tapenade, rocket and garlic sauce.

Best Burgers in Australia!
I was lucky enough to write food reviews in my former career, and from the US to EU, and back to Australia, I can categorically say that the Hungry Monkey do the best burgers every single time. I have eaten here more than a dozen times, and not once have they disappointed me. Their innovative menu and fresh produce is a winning combination. For breakfast, you can't go past their acai bowl, and even meat-eaters lick their lips over the vegan and vegetarian mains. They serve damn good coffee too. My only complaint is when I leave Kiama I can't bring 'The Monkey' with me.
Loved this place. The fresh food and creativity and service.
