The Sandbar Batemans Bay

What an extraordinary experience. I recently
had the pleasure of dining here solo. From the moment I rang the doorbell, I knew I was in for a treat. I was escorted through the lounge to the dining room and seated at a window overlooking the water. The staff immediately made me feel welcome with water and bread with a black charcoal salted butter. The menu was a five course set menu with paired wines and sake available. I took the lot. The courses flowed seamlessly, with detailed explanations about each element and matching drink. I was blown away by the impeccable quality of the food, presentation and service. It all flowed like clockwork. But that was not the most impressive thing about the Sandbar. Despite providing food and service that would rival many award winning restaurants, the atmosphere was what cemented the deal for me. There were 90 year old couples, family groups with young children, first dates and me alone all equally comfortable, attended to and enjoying our selves. I congratulate the team at the Sandbar for creating a truly memorable and unique experience.

Had 5 delicious courses at an extremely reasonable price. The staff are extremely courteous and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back when we are in the area.

A beautiful mix of French and Japanese cuisine
We enjoyed the degustation with parred wines and it was fantastic. You know it’s truly wonderful when many are scratching the plates to get the last morels of dessert. Don’t be put off by extensive and unique ingredients they just add to the beautiful flavours. Despite what some may think you don’t leave hungry just well satisfied. Staff knowledge and friendliness beyond expectations. 11/10

Inspired!
We are so lucky to have a restaurant of this calibre in the small coastal town of Batemans Bay. The food is simply inspirational. It is amazingly good in every other respect that matters when dining out. The calm, tasteful interior and lovely view in the early evening are simply icing on the cake.

Unique, surprising and beautiful
Each plate is a visual work of art on their own, but then you taste them....how he comes up with the random combinations of flavors that match amazingly, I just can't imagine. David is truly creative

I would highly recommend eating here if you are a true foodie, I had the 6 course degustation & it was amazing. Best meal I’ve ever had for fine dining. Will definitely be going back.

World Class Dining
My husband and I have eaten here three times in the past 18 months and each time is better than the last, which seems an impossible feat to achieve! The dishes are exquisite to eat and the meal is quite literally presented like artwork on your plate. We have also eaten at Tetsuyas and I believe that The Sandbar outshines it by a country mile. Delicious, delicious, delicious. Batemans Bay is extremely lucky to have a Chef and his team that produce such fine dining. I am always encouraging and recommending people to experience The Sandbar, because that’s exactly what it is - an amazing experience.

What an amazing experience.. Each and every course was outstanding, to say the least... This is fine dining of world class standard.

Fine Dining at The Bay
All the senses appeased. Visually beautiful food with a unique flavour I find hard to describe. In all my travels I have never experienced dining quite like it. Course after course better than the last. We enjoyed guessing at the ingredients and trying to figure how chef put it all together. Good wine and boutique beer selection. Service outstanding! Oh there is a nice view but we only had eyes for the food.

I recently had their set menu and it was wonderful. Think this could be my new best place to eat at in Batemans Bay.

Have dined at both Tetsua's and Eschalot several times and this restaurant is equally as good as good if not better.I realise that sounds like a huge statement,but this is a must try and definitely the best degustation meal I have ever had worldwide. The mix of ingredients,simply stunning.The taste a gastronomic sensation with every mouthful.The presentation delicate as one would expect and mouth watering just to look at.The technique used can only be described as brilliant and the Chef is obviously dedicated to his craft and this was evident in every one of the seven courses.As for value,this is almost ridiculous.awe would have expected $150 to $200 per head for such an experience but an unbelievably low $78 per head was the final treat.The wine list is more than sufficient for an appreciative wine enthusiast but the focus here is definitely on the amazing food.This restaurant deserves a hat and is the best thing to ever happen to the local food culture.
