About The Signal Station

Come for the view, stay for the food at The Signal Station on Nelson Road in South Hobart. Nestled in Mount Nelson Signal Station Reserve, this all-day café lives in a house built for the Head Signalman in 1897, boasting unspoiled views of Hobart, the Derwent River, O’Possum Bay and beyond. Just a 10-minute drive from the centre of Hobart and a comfortable walk from Sandy Bay, stop in early for a breakfast of eggs Benedict with salmon cured in beetroot, vodka and gin, with poached eggs, mustard vinaigrette, zucchini and chia seed fritters; or join the lunch crowd for Signal Station surf and turf – salmon and wallaby with sweet hoisin sauce and Asian slaw. Make sure to leave room for a decadent dessert of double chocolate torte, hazelnut and blueberry dacquoise and white fudge quenelle.
