The Smokehouse Cafe at Tarzali Lakes

Great Day at the Smokehouse Cafe and the Platypus Park
We did a day trip to Tarzali Lakes from just north of Cairns. The drive was quite easy and very scenic passing Kuranda, Mareeba and Atherton. The Platypus Park is in a beautiful setting with abundant wildlife including fish, eels, turtles and of course lots of platypus. A leisurely walk around the park was followed by a lovely lunch. We had the Red Claw and salad with a couple of local beers. We have also taken home some smokehouse sausages that have been made at the Caf? to enjoy over the weekend. Our lunch at the Caf? was fresh and very enjoyable and the Park host was extremely welcoming. The Caf? is in a simple setting and is quite unpretentious but the food and nature experience have made for a very memorable day.
