About Wild Duck Fine Asian Cuisine

Situated on Kingston Foreshore, Wild Duck Fine Asian Cuisine fuses the vibrant flavours of the Orient delivering them in warm, elegant surrounds. Using the classic elements of golden-hued lighting, white linen, plush beige chairs and teardrop lanterns, this stylish restaurant sets the tone for intimate dining, where the décor is as well presented as the dishes that follow. Taking diners on a journey through Asia’s various regions, the menu features dishes like Balmain bug steamed dumplings with pickled ginger and red vinegar to start; before mains such as slow-cooked pork belly, soy sauce, rock sugar and mixed spices, wrapped in lotus leaves and served with sticky rice. Perhaps massaman beef cheek curry entices, with coconut cream, roasted taro root, fried crispy onion and roti bread.

Pleasant Chinese/mod Aus fusion food served in very nice surrounding by friendly and knowledgable staff. I especially enjoyed the dragon-cut eggplant, and the crispy duck was nice. The wine list is small, and a bit overpriced, I think, but overall it's an enjoyable experience, and worth a return visit.

This place is amazing! They greet you at the door and take your coats to the cloak room, can you believe that?! You are seated at your table and served the choice of sparkly or still water. Then they bring out the drinks menu. Once drink orders are taken they give you a moment to chat with friends and bring out the food menus. A friend and I had the Shao Lin Tofu Puffs wish were delicious! Usually the silk tofu is bland, but it came with a soy based sauce and that really made a difference. The fried tofu tasted almost like a corn fritter. It was lovely! Another friend had the Roast Duck Rice Paper Rolls and she said that the duck was really tender and tasted really nice. One of us had the Crispy Xiang Su Duck for the main and she said that it was delicious and really tender like her main. The honey ginger sauce base really gave it a nice zing and completed the dish quite well. My partner had the Coral Cut Snapper. We were all really impressed with the presentation of this dish and he said that the light chilli, lime and coriander sauce was a perfect mix and made his dish that much more enjoyable. A friend and I ordered the Dragon Cut Baby Eggplant. This dish was exquisite! The texture of the eggplant was hidden in the batter mix, but cut in a spiral and folded for perfect presentation. The crispy noodles gave the dish a bit of volume, but the rich chilli, garlic and vinegar sauce was the thing the eggplant needed to finish it off! We had desert as well. The Five texture Mousse with Summer Berries was really fluffy and a perfect desert to finish the meals, while the Banana Split with a twist was exactly that - banana was covered with the caramel glaze and the rum and almond crumble just made it taste so nice! We were really impressed and will return again!
