Kyneton Ridge Estate
About Kyneton Ridge Estate
Set amidst the Macedon Ranges, just over an hour from Melbourne, is the award-winning Kyneton Ridge Estate. Renowned for its Pinot Noir, this family owned and run winery offers the consummate winery experience; with a cafe, conference facilities and luxury B&B, it’s ideal for a day trip or weekend away. All wines are estate grown and produced by winemaker John Boucher, who conducts tastings in the cellar door. Among a fine range that features Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sparkling, highlights include the lush, fruity Pinot Noir 2009 and the Shiraz 2010, redolent of liquorice, blackberry and tobacco. Relax with a glass and a casual meal fireside or out on the deck, and enjoy sweeping views over the vineyard and countryside.

The most stunning views over the valley, hidden away on the back roads of Kyneton. Takes some finding but definitely worth it. Some super wines, particularly liked the Pinots with several vintages available for tasting. Also liked the sparkling, great structure with just enough yeast to balance the acid. Tapas style modern Australian dishes from the kitchen, and well executed wood fired pizza. Try the pumpkin and Roquefort pizza.
Wow. The wine is sensational. We went on a very busy Saturday afternoon and there was a surprising amount of people around. John and Pauline (the owners) did a great job of getting around to everyone. We also had wood fired pizzas, a very plesent surprise considering we werent expecting to have lunch. Kyneton ridge is tucked away off the main road. It may feel like you're going too far or not on the right road, it's about 4 or 5kms from the main road. Beautiful setting. It feels a bit undiscovered - get in now before it becomes too popular!
Great pizza, but the real love for me was the 2010 Shiraz. Not usually a great Shiraz fan but this one was exceptional. Thanks Pauline for your wonderful hospitality and next time I will get my husband to drive!
