Every November, World Vegan Month is celebrated worldwide as a time to shine a light on the vegan movement along with National Eating Healthy Day on Wednesday, November 6.
Not only does the month encourage you to embrace a more plant-based diet it also showcases the advantages of making sustainable and cruelty-free choices. Living a vegan lifestyle can come in many forms, but the main focus is to avoid eating or using animal products, derived from or tested on animals, as well as any activities involving exploitation.
World Vegan Day (now a full month) was founded in 1994 by Louise Wallis, former chair of The Vegan Society – the oldest vegan charity in the world. The first Vegan Day was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the society, which is also when the term ‘vegan’ was first coined.
It’s a time to dive into a world of vibrant veggies and crunchy fruit – imagine a day when your plate is a rainbow of healthy eating choices, bursting with flavours to make your tastebuds dance.
Explore a wide world of food that does good to our bodies – think of swapping out that salty snack for a crisp, fresh salad. Eating healthy is all about choosing the right food to fuel your body such as fruit, vegetables, wholegrain and lean proteins (unless you are vegan!).
