Cocktail of the Week from Chicano Taqueria & Bar – the Cucumberita!

From humble beginnings as a pop-up, Chicano Taqueria is now a permanent fixture on Brunswick Street bringing a slice of Mexico to Fitzroy. The dining room features an open kitchen and Chef’s table so you can see where the tortillas are made, along with a moody vibe of bright blue painted brick walls, a mosaic-tiled bar, polished wood and vibrant artwork, setting the scene for tacos and tequila with amigos.

Mixologist, Tegan Sorenson recommends trying the Cucumberita cocktail next time you are looking for a masterclass in Summer sipping:

What’s not to like about freshly pressed cucumber juice and zesty lime combined with the subtle heat of habanero-infused agave, balanced by the smooth depth of Tromba Reposado tequila.

Served over ice and finished with a delicate cucumber ribbon, it’s the perfect accompaniment to a plate of tacos on a warm afternoon – refreshing, vibrant, with just the right amount of kick.

"Sometimes you want to feel cool as a cucumber while secretly packing the heat of a habanero,” Tegan explains. "This cheeky little number is like your ex – smooth, spicy and impossible to forget! Plus, it’s healthy, right? Lime and cucumber juice basically make it a green juice detox…with tequila."

The Cucumberita is the ultimate cocktail multitasker – hydrating you with fresh cucumber juice while setting your taste buds on fire with habanero!

"It’s a sneaky way to feel healthy while indulging in tequila bliss. Plus, cucumbers are 95% water, so technically it’s a wellness drink!”

Try this cocktail on a Friday afternoon to relax after a long and stressful work week. Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.
