Find classic cocktails unique to the Brisbane hospitality scene at Lang’s Lounge on Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley. This boutique bar promises an unforgettable experience in moody surrounds with comfy chairs and couches for chilling out, while posters of classic movies adorn the walls.
Mixologist Tom Boyle created the I'm Ron Burgundy cocktail from a direct quote in his favourite movie, Anchorman – he even has an Anchorman tattoo!
"I have been thinking about attempting this drink for years but never had the right reason until April, where at Lang’s Lounge we were theming our cocktails around comedy movies and I finally gave it a go,” he tells AGFG.
"Three fingers of Glenlivet with a little bit of pepper and some cheese” is what Ron orders on his ‘date’ with Miss Veronica Corningstone in the movie.
"We went through about 20 trials of cheese-infused Glenlivet to get it right – we settled on a blend of three cheeses as they all had different attributes that we liked. Alongside this, the four pepper tincture is a nod to the four members of the Channel 4 news team.”
Tom says the name took about a week to come up with as staff quoted Anchorman lines back and forth at each other until they came up with the name.
"I recommend this cocktail for anyone who likes a savoury drink or loves the pairing of whiskey and cheese. The cocktail tastes unashamedly like the three items mentioned by lead anchor Burgundy.”
