Technically, it’s not drinking alone if the bartender is there!
You know the drill…it’s Friday afternoon and time to relax after a long and stressful work week.
What better way to chill out than with a cocktail at your favourite bar or restaurant? Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.
Welcome to our Cocktail of the Week series, where each Friday we will highlight a cheeky creation to tantalise tastebuds and set the tone for good times.
Those looking for a good time and Japanese-inspired tapas head down Clarence Street in Port Macquarie to find Stick Bar. This hidden gem is well worth a detour to visit with craft cocktails and yakitori delights served in surrounds of recycled timber, glowing amber pendent lighting and an eclectic mix of artwork.
Mixologist Scott Green recommends the Odin's Elixir as your go-to cocktail of choice:
"I named the cocktail after my stepson, Odin. I have two stepkids, Odin and Felicity, who each have a cocktail named after them on our menu,” Scott explains.
"The kids are a huge part of my life and I wanted to do something to show that, which is why I have cocktails named after them – Felicity’s cocktail is called the Flissy Floo.”
Scott says the Odin is a very unique cocktail – the flavour of the combined ingredients is very familiar to people in a way that they can’t quite pick where from.
"The presentation with the smoked bubble as a garnish is also a real head turner as we bring the drinks to people’s tables and adds a fun element to the dining experience.
"My goal was to create something fun and unique, drawing inspiration from the tiki, combining beautiful rums and liqueurs with other bold flavours to create a complex yet well-balanced cocktail.”
