Mixologist Philip Jones recommends trying The Girl from Ipanema cocktail next time you visit:
"At Tilly’s Garden, we just love tequila! We’re also happy to say it seems to be making a strong resurgence into the Australian market as more than just a spirit you shot, then regret the next day,” he says. "The process of infusing and fat-washing for this cocktail rounds the harsh notes of tequila and leaves you with a truly unique drink packed with flavour that you will only find at Tilly’s Garden.”
Taking inspiration from the song and Brazilian beach it is named after, The Girl from Ipanema combines natural tropical beauty, vibrant energy and a blend of cultural influences that make both Rio de Janeiro and The Girl from Ipanema a truly unique experience.
"The cocktail is the brainchild of half the team at Tilly’s. We had a concept we liked but just could not land the final recipe we were happy with. That was until we did a cocktail training session we do at the start of every new season at Tilly’s. After many attempts and taking ideas from everyone, we finally had a cocktail that was not just ready to be on the list, but was a standout of the season. Already a best seller!”
The credit for the cocktail’s name goes to Tilly’s training manager Ricky, who loves jazz almost as much as travelling the world. He loves the song and absolutely loves the beach in Rio de Janeiro where the name comes from.
"I don’t think I have seen him ever say the name of the drink without singing and dancing each time,” Philip says.
Try this cocktail on a Friday afternoon to relax after a long and stressful work week. Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.
