Modern Australian barbeque legend Dave Pynt has taken over Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards on the 21st of February, claiming the Chefs’ Choice Award and a top ten place in the list for his Singapore restaurant Burnt Ends and its backers. Not yet content, Dave has planned and will execute a hostile takeover of the AGFG Instagram account sometime next week, so we’ll be waiting with building anticipation to see what he gets up to.
Pynt started out working in Sydney with Tetsuya Wakuda of Tetsuya’s fame, before heading off to work at then number one restaurant in the world Noma, before training under Spanish charcoal master Victor Arguinzoniz. Known as a straight talker, Dave’s custom made ovens are fuelled by Australian Jarrah and his bold flavours are infused with hints of Spanish notes, dotted with Aussie produce. Burnt Ends is now ranked number 10 in Asia, but is making barbeque flavoured waves on a world scale.
