Bland sandwiches and soggy chips sitting in bain-maries for hours are set to become a thing of the past as Westfield Garden City ushers in a new frontier for shopping centre dining in Queensland.
The Upper Mount Gravatt shopping centre houses two casual dining precincts: the resort-style Town Square which opened on September 18 and the bustling hawker-style 8 Street, set to open early October.
At the official launch of Town Square, guests were treated to a beautiful array of dishes from new tenant Hatch & Co, including crispy ricotta, herb and parmesan gnudi balls served in sage brown butter and smokey chargrilled spatchcock with freekeh, currants, almond, labna and pomegranate dressing. To cap off the fiesta, guests enjoyed panna cotta served with puffed popcorn and caramel sauce courtesy of The Palms Mediterranean Bar & Kitchen.
Spanning two levels and a surface area of more than six thousand square metres, Town Square will provide shoppers with a unique al fresco dining experience. Boasting 16 casual dining restaurants, the precinct promises to offer something for everyone with much-anticipated establishments such as Vapiano and Motto Motto also set to open in late 2014.
In addition, deck chairs and day beds combined with lush greenery and a three-tiered pond with a curved infinity waterfall will transform the shopping centre into a tropical oasis. Evening shoppers can also enjoy lighting features in the pool and stunning interactive digital presentations.
Meanwhile, 8 Street will open on October 2. Emulating the vibrant and bustling market squares of Asia, the hawker-style laneway promises to excite with delectable offerings such as fiery BBQ wings from Crazy Wing and okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury pizzas) from Okonomi House, and everything else in between. 8 Street will also feature two beer gardens, one for functions and the other for shoppers to enjoy a selection of refreshing Asian beers to accompany their meal.
