Just in time for Summer, Brunetti Classico, the institution that brings authentic Roman Italian to Melbourne, has combined two of its most popular Italian sweet treats, gelato and cannoli.
Fabio Angele, owner of Brunetti Classico, said his establishment’s new Gelato Cannoli product is the ultimate Italian delicacy.
"Straight from the heart of Sicily, our Gelato Cannoli is here to make your Summer unforgettable. We have five delicious creamy gelato flavours to fill your crispy cannoli shell including pistachio, Amarena, Biscoff, Rocher and salted caramel,” he says. "Our gelato cannoli is the perfect way to stay cool during the warmer months and is made by our award-winning gelato maker, Andrea Schinardo.”
Andrea, who has worked at Brunetti Classico for several years, recently secured a silver medal in the gelato category athe Royal Melbourne 2024 Australian Food Awards.
In early 2023, Brunetti Classico opened its first dedicated gelato bar alongside its flagship store in Lygon Court, Carlton. Now the Italian food emporium also offers its icy sweet treats at its new Moonee Ponds store at its new concept boutique on Drummond Street in Carlton.
"At Brunetti Classico, we are known for our large range of celebration cakes and treats, but now we also have a delicious and colourful range of gelato products including take-home options, which are also available via Uber Eats,” Fabio says.
"Our bespoke gelato bar is an authentic Italian gelateria in the heart of Carlton. We churn our gelato onsite daily – customers can watch Andrea at work through the observation glass as he churns and decorates the gelato.”
The business has come full circle as the Carlton site is where Brunette first made gelato in 1974.
"Gelato is at the heart of Brunetti Classico, which we are immensely proud of.”
The gelato experience at Brunetti Classico is not just two scoops and a waffle cone, the presentation and detail are best described as artisan.
"We offer more than just gelato flavour, we have a variety of specials too. Our gelato is a refreshing taste of Italy here in Melbourne,” Fabio says. "We have flavours for all tastebuds, including vanilla, tiramisu, hazelnut, Biscoff, berry pavlova and lemon to name a few.
"Some of our specials include Kinder (white chocolate gelato with Nutella), Cherry Ripe and cannoli-flavoured gelato. We also have a delicious cream di pistachio gelato topping, which can be served warm or cold.”
Brunetti Classico also has a range of delectable gelato celebration cakes and treats for all occasions, including Biscoff Semifreddo Gelato Cake, Rocher Semifreddo Gelato Cake and Fragolina Semifreddo.
"If gelato isn’t your thing why not try our granita, a semi-frozen dessert originally from Sicily and closely related to sorbet,” says Fabio. "Made traditionally in-house and mixed continuously throughout the freezing process to ensure a silky-smooth and delicious texture, our flavours include lemon, strawberry, almond and coffee.
"In Sicily, granita is often enjoyed as a quenching breakfast staple.”
