Housed in the cellars of Felino Castle in Parma, Italy the Museum of Salame will take you through the history of salami in the region, which is considered to be the history of salami itself.

Of course, this cured meat has to have its own day of celebration – get ready for National Salami Day on Wednesday, September 7.

Salami gets its name from the Latin word for salt – this preserved sausage is an important traditional way of storing meat and has been practised throughout Europe for centuries. Most commonly made from pork, salami are cured, fermented and air-dried sausages that can be found in our delis and butcher shops in delicious variety.
