Slipstream Brewing, awarded Queensland’s Best Brewery, makes its mark on the Sunshine Coast with the official opening of Social House today, Wednesday, October 16.
Delivering quality, award-winning craft beer in a laid-back coastal setting, Slipstream Brewing Social House is located in Stockland Shopping Centre in Birtinya.
The 300-pax space features 40 taps showcasing renowned signature beers, rotating limited releases and a new beer release exclusive to Social House – a hoppy ‘North Coast’ Pilsner, inspired by the Sunshine Coast.
Founded by husband-and-wife team, Deale and Elisa Stanley-Hunt, Slipstream Brewing opened its first brewery in Yeerongpilly on Brisbane’s southside in late 2017.
After seven successful and award-winning years, the team saw an opportunity to bring its refined craft beer hospitality experience to the rapidly growing Sunshine Coast.
"Our vision for Social House is to create a space that embodies the spirit of the Sunshine Coast community, where locals can come together and enjoy quality beers in a welcoming atmosphere, just like we have done with our Brisbane venue,” Deale says.
"We’re bringing the best of Slipstream to Birtinya with an exclusive beer brewed just for the Coast and a menu that pairs perfectly with our craft brews.”
Elisa says they spent considerable time investigating opportunities for a second site and once they became aware of the Birtinya venue, they knew it was right.
"Birtinya is a fast-growing area and our venue will fill a gap in the market for a sizable, authentic and exciting hospitality offering,” she explains.
Designed to be paired with the beer offering, Social House will also be slinging a curated menu of delicious grilled eats including a selection of premium cut steaks and an impressive 450-gram pork tomahawk, as well as a focus on fresh seafood.
The menu also incorporates popular menu items from the Yeerongpilly Bar & Kitchen, which are inspired by the West Coast of the USA, like most of the beers.
The brand-new kitchen team is overseen by Head Chef Jarick Quesada, a culinary expert with more than 20 years’ experience.
Beyond food and drinks, Social House also offers a variety of entertainment options including live music sessions, weekly trivia nights and pinball competitions.
The indoor-outdoor venue is designed to suit all occasions – from alfresco lounges and cosy booths to a dedicated function space for informal celebrations.
For those looking for a tipple other than beer, there is a selection of boutique wines, independent spirits and cocktails available, as well as a range of non-alcoholic options and coffee.
Social House is hosting a Grand Opening Party on Saturday, October 19 with live music, a pop-up oyster bar and lucky door prizes.
