Sakura Festival - A forever blossoming culture

The Cherry Blossom "Sakura" Festival in Japan.

While we are in Autumn the Northern hemisphere is enjoying Spring and none blossom more than Japan with their annual Sakura Festival. The festival show cases the country's iconic Cherry Blossoms that bloom from late March to early May.

Looking at trends over the last decade, in all major tourist areas such as Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the best time to catch the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom is in late March to early April. For those travelling to Japan, book your trip around these dates because you certainly don't want to miss out on the majestic sites as well as all the culinary delights of the Cherry Blossom that the Japanese experiment with. Cherry Blossoms bloom in other parts of Japan well into the end of April and early May (mainly Sapporo and Aomori), so if you're around be sure to look for them.

Has all this made you think you haven't had Japanese in a long time? (We aren't talking just Sushi Train here). Head over to our Japanese Cuisine section for your local restaurant!
