Sandstorm Events, supported by the Frankston City Council, is proud to announce the highly anticipated return of the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships 2025 – ‘The Villains of Storytime’ taking place at Frankston Foreshore from Saturday, April 5 until Sunday, April 27.
Transforming the bayside waterfront into a 300-tonne sand arena, the family-friendly event will see some of Australia’s top sand sculptors compete for the titles of Australian Champion and Doubles Champions.

In an epic showdown of sand and creativity, spectators can watch sculptors race to the finish line as they carve their masterpieces, creating life-sized sculptures that will showcase iconic literary villains.
The event also marks the return of Australia’s leading Sand Sculpting Company, Sandstorm Events, following a six-year hiatus from the Frankston Waterfront, with founder and director Sharon Redmond commenting on the significance of their return.
"Our iconic sand sculpting events have been a beloved tradition in Frankston for more than two decades and we’re thrilled to work with the Frankston City Council to bring them back in such an exciting way,” Sharon says.

"This return is also very close to our hearts as we celebrate a significant 25-year milestone. Sand sculpting is one of the most unique spectacles and artforms in the world and we are truly excited to share the history of Australian sand sculpting by launching our very first sand museum for the public to exhibit.”
Frankston City Mayor Kris Bolam says he is proud to welcome sand sculpting back to Frankston City as the host of the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships.
"The sand sculptures are an iconic feature of Frankton’s foreshore - attracting locals and visitors from interstate and overseas. This exciting event showcases the incredible talent of Australian sand sculptors as well as the creativity and imagination held within our local community.”
The event will feature a mix of family-friendly activities where children can also enjoy workshops, speed carving demonstrations and the Sandsational Easter Egg Hunt (on Easter weekend). The sand museum will also showcase the fascinating history of sand sculpting in Australia, making this a must-visit event for art and culture lovers alike.

Noted for affordable ticket prices, the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships 2025 are a one-of-a-kind event that promises to be packed with surprises and guaranteed to leave visitors spellbound.
The event will culminate in the announcement of the winners on the weekend, marking the start of an immersive 3-week exhibition.
