With a fresh, beach holiday-style fitting to the iconic Noosa Hastings Street dining strip, Noosa Beach House exudes a smart-casual sophistication and Sri Lankan flavours.
The brain-child of celebrity Chef Peter Kuruvita, this restaurant has fast become the go-to for locals and those holidaying on the Sunshine Coast, seeking fresh seafood and great wine.
So where does Peter go when he wants to have a good time? We asked him for his favourite local spots to indulge, when he feels the urge.
Where do you go to splurge?
A waterfront table at Ricky’s River Bar & Restaurant is hard to beat. Great service, good food and the view makes a good combination for a special occasion.
Your favourite place to take the family?
Embassy XO weekend yum cha at Sunshine Beach. The a la carte menu is pretty good too, very tasty modern Asian; but the family loves the yum cha. Great quality, flavours and excellent value. A favourite for years.
When you’re craving a good pub feed?
The newly renovated Sunshine Beach Surf Club is a winner! Great views and setting, excellent pub menu and quality food. Friendly staff and a great selection of local beers.
Your furry friends preferred pet-friendly spot?
Sushi Yah-Man in Noosa Junction. Grab a table outside, settle the pooch in and order delicious fresh made-to-order sushi, hand rolls, or one of their delicious rice bowls, to cool reggae vibes and friendly service.
Where do you grab your local produce from?
Noosa Farmers Market on a Sunday morning (along with breakfast at the roti stand). Every other day of the week, the Awesome Little Fruit Shop outside Coles in Noosa Village Shopping Centre has the best and freshest produce, straight from our local farmers.
The best spot to indulge in seafood?
Well, we always have a big selection of the freshest local seafood at Noosa Beach House Restaurant. So, if you love a Queensland mud crab, freshly shucked oysters, or a Mooloolaba prawn, head on down. As a local who loves to cook at home, I head to Noosa Fish Providores in Noosaville for the freshest local catch.
Best place for a late-night feed?
Village Bicycle in Noosa Junction. Damn good any time of day, but these guys serve food later than anyone else in Noosa. Good, tasty food – tacos, burgers, wings and tater tots. Great local beers, tequilas and margaritas. Chilled laid-back local vibe – good times!
Newly opened and loving it!
Iggy Sun in Noosa Junction. Awesome food, great value, excellent casual local addition. Innovative modern Middle Eastern, using great produce and generous serves. Marcus Mano is the owner/Chef and he is really good, I worked with him in Sydney years ago. Must try!
Tell us a fun fact that not many people know about you!
My love of kickboxing had me fighting in the ring from 14-27 years old.
