Melbourne-based cook and author, Julia Busuttil Nishimura kicks off the inaugural quarterly Chef dinner series at LOAM Restaurant in Sydney on Wednesday, October 25 in celebration of the launch of Two Good Co’s cookbook, ‘Change the Course’.
This is the third cookbook from the Sydney-based social enterprise, which exists to change the course of the lives of vulnerable women, all inspired by the power of food.
Through creating, selling and donating delicious, nutritious food and products – as well as the meaningful employment of women in its kitchens and café – Two Good supports women in crisis by believing in them until they believe in themselves again.
Starting as an organic soup kitchen at St Canice’s in Kings Cross, Two Good has expanded to sell restaurant quality dishes, which have been designed by some of Australia’s top Chefs, including Kylie Kwong, Andrew McConnell, Darren Roberston and Matt Moran, along with premium homewares and toiletries.
Delivering more than 218,000 meals to refugees and shelters since the business began in 2016 as well as providing more than 37,000 hours of paid work, Two Good Co is definitely changing the course.
The quarterly dinner series will see some of Australia’s most esteemed cooks and Chefs collaborate with LOAM to create special menus revolving around the cookbook’s central theme of ‘do more with less’.
All profits from the dinners will help Two Good continue its mission to support, empower and employ women rebuilding their self-worth and independence following domestic violence, homelessness and complex trauma.
Julia’s first-up event will be a three-course dinner showcasing an array of simple, nourishing and delicious meals; menu highlights include pea, ricotta and anchovy bruschetta, seasonal vegetables with aioli, roast herb chicken with buttery croutons, radicchio, fennel and blood orange salad, plus an espresso flan for dessert.
"Just as ‘Change the Course’ is more than a cookbook, this too is more than a dinner series – it is a catalyst for change, a source of empowerment and a symbol of love,” explains Two Good founder, Rob Caslick. "Each menu in the series will honour this theme, creating simple yet delicious food prepared with love, designed to bring people together over great food, great conversation and a great cause.”
Tickets to Julia’s inaugural dinner are just $150 pp for the three-course meal, drinks by Balmy Nights and a donation to help Two Good. Click here to book; to become part of the movement and purchase your copy of the cookbook online, by clicking here.
Two Good’s commitment to social impact remains unwavering – from every book purchase, 50% of all profits are reinvested in supporting, empowering and employing women to rebuild their lives after homelessness, domestic violence and complex trauma.
