It’s a warm balmy afternoon, as often is the case on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Located just an hour shy, north of Byron and the same distance again, south of Brisbane – it’s the 70 km of coastline that appeals so much to locals and tourists alike.
Here we call it the ‘Sunday sessions’ feel, but it lasts all week long.
It’s gently waking up to the sunrise at 5.30am as golden hues twinkle into your bedroom. By 6am the esplanades are full of walkers and joggers, the ocean full of surfers and swimmers. The Sunday vibe on the coast is that feeling of walking into your office by 8am on a Tuesday morning with a few specks of sand still on your ankles, as you head to your desk.
The Sunday vibe on the coast, is starting your Saturday at a park run at 7am because by 8am the sun will be hot! It’s heading to your local farmers market, notable the Palm Beach-Currumbin one or even the Burleigh Heads primary school farmers market, to pick up fresh cherries and watermelon for your picnic later that day.
It's heading to Burleigh Baker on the corner of James Street and grabbing a baguette and then crossing the street to Golossi for some nitrate-free ham and French cheese to add to your picnic basket.
Sunday vibes are heading to Burleigh Heads on any afternoon before the sun sets over the ocean. Either end will do, north at the Miami end, or south at the Hillside. There’ll likely be street musicians and ratio ratio-wise, two dogs for every person on a blanket.
The Sunday sessions vibe on the Gold Coast is heading to the Exhibitionist Bar at HOTA and sipping on a bottle of cold Veuve while enjoying Chef hat-worthy bar snacks.
Will we see you there soon?
