As we transition from the heat of Summer to hopefully a cooler Autumn, it’s time to turn our attention to what to plant in the garden from March to June.
It’s a beautiful time of the year and you can have a lot of fun in the garden…if you know what you are doing.
Here’s our Autumn planting guide:
Tropical zones (hot and humid all year):
Artichokes, beans, beetroot, broccoli, cabbage, capsicum, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chives, dill, eggplant, kale, leeks, lettuce, onion, parsnip, potato, pumpkin, radish, rocket, squash, sweet corn, tomatoes, watermelon and zucchini.
Sub-tropical climate (still mild during Autumn):
Beetroot, broad beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, capsicum, carrots, cauliflower, celeriac, celery, chives, garlic, kale, leeks, lettuce, onion, oregano, pak choy and bok choy, parsley, parsnip, peas and snow peas, radish, rocket, shallots, silverbeet, spinach, tomatoes, turnips and swede.
Grasslands zone (temperate climate):
Beans, beetroot, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, capsicum, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumber, eggplant, garlic, kale, leeks, lettuce, onion, pak choy and bok choy, parsley, parsnip, peas and snow peas, potato, pumpkin, rocket, squash, sweet corn, sweet potato, tomatoes and thyme.
Arid climate:
Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, capsicum, carrot, cauliflower, celery, chives, eggplant, kale, leeks, lettuce, onion, oregano, parsnip, potato, pumpkin, radish, spring onions, spinach, sweet potato, tomatoes.
Cool temperature:
Asparagus, artichoke, broad beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celeriac, chicory, chives, endive, fennel, kale, leeks, lettuce, mustard green, onions, parsnip peas, radish, silverbeet, spinach, turnips and swedes.
