Ever wondered what you would get if you combined two great Australian tastemakers – Brown Brothers and Gelato Messina – to create a wine?
Using Messina’s iconic flavour pairing of strawberries and cream has resulted in the release of a limited edition Moscato wine – light and ready to keep you cool in our unseasonably warm Autumn weather.
Celebrating the sweet scent of strawberries, layered with hints of jam and vanilla cream and a hint of musk, serve this drop well chilled and enjoy. Beautifully clean with a light, straw colour and some youthful green tinges, the nose is lifted with aromas of citrus and freshly crushed grapes.
In the mouth, this wine is alive with a vibrant and mouth-filling sherbet flavour, perfect alongside a bowl of Messina gelato or for something different, try it with Vietnamese rice paper rolls.
It is the second time the wine and gelato makers have combined forces – last year, they produced a limited-edition gelato using Brown Brothers Prosecco Rosé.
"This year, we wanted the collaboration to reach new heights and celebrate both our specialties through releasing both a limited-edition wine and gelato flavour,” fourth-generation family member Emma Brown explains.
"Strawberries and cream and Moscato are the perfect combinations, so as like-minded tastemakers, it was a no-brainer to join forces again to bring these flavours to life.”
As one of Australia’s first families of wine, Brown Brothers has been pioneering wine adventures since 1889, while Gelato Messina started from a single store in 2002 to now 25 locations across the East Coast of the country.
